Thanks to everyone who checked out last week on Product Hunt! I ended up in 2nd place for the day, pretty great, and it now has 1066 upvotes.
Because of the positive response I’ve gotten from that checklist, I’ve decided to turn into a pretty comprehensive checklist to get a startup ready to launch (and then what to do at launch and after, too). It’ll take me a while to write it, so get on the wait list at if you want to know when it comes out. I still need to edit the site to reflect this decision.

Growth tip
Think about content marketing beyond a blog post. has gotten me a ton of re-targetable traffic and readers who I can show to. The guys at Videofruit came up with “What Email Service Should I Use?” as a helpful but aggressive way to grow their own list. Try to figure out what content you can create that is relevant to your target audience and subtly promote your main service. It’s powerful.
Free tool tip
I’m amazed more people don’t use MailerLite, a full featured email service that includes automation, and it’s free until you have 1000 active subscribers per month. That’s a lot of wiggle room until you start having to pay (and even then it starts at just $10 a month). I’m using MailerLite to automatically send out PDFs when people opt-in to get them. So check out MailerLite if you’re looking for a free/cheap email service provider [affiliate link, but you get $20 credit if you do sign up via it]

That's it for this issue
Thanks for reading. I’m heading to a hot air balloon competition in a couple hours, because my father and I are hot air balloon pilots, totally normal, right? But I’ll be back next week with more goodies.
Get on the wait list at to be the first to know when I finish the checklist for launching a successful startup!
