Hi, it’s Jói, and I hereby rename Friday to Startupresourcesday. Please update your calendars 😜 We’re just a couple of weeks away from issue #100, and I feel like we should do something special. Click your favorite option(s) for what we should do:
-
Organize a meetup at some dive bar in Iceland (you know you want to visit!)

Gridbox - Visual HTML Builder for Bootstrap 4, Bootstrap 3 and Foundation 6
This is a cool editor for mocking up and previewing a website based on either Bootstrap or Foundation components, and in the end downloading the design you’ve created. The result is just like hand-coded HTML. Seems to be completely free.

Vizzlo: Create charts & business graphics online
A tool to create charts, infographics, and business visualizations. Has a ton of chart types, timelines, maps, process charts, gauges and more, all quite good looking. Freemium.

FakeJSON: API to Generate Mock Data for Testing
Looks useful when developing an API or anything that visualizes JSON data. Lets you generate fake sample data for convincing mockups, apparently using heuristics based on field names (there’s a nice simple demo right on their homepage, try it out). Could be used to test ideas, populate wireframes or showcase designs. Freemium.

Instavast: Instagram tools
There are three products here, each priced at $10/month with a free trial. The first is an auto-follow/auto-comment/auto-etc. bot to grow your following. The second is a way to automate direct messages. The third is a way to track all your Instagram comments in a unified interface.
|
Slidescarnival: Actually free PowerPoint templates and Google Slides themes
If you search for free PowerPoint templates, you’ll find a lot of sites claiming to offer that but most of them have like one free template and everything else is for sale. This site has a bunch of actually free templates.

Linkilaw: Find a lawyer in the UK for small businesses and startups
Linkilaw is kind of like Upcounsel for the UK market, helping you find a suitable lawyer for your proposal, with many services available at a fixed cost. I met one of their founders last year and we talked about the business, seems very cool and they’ve grown a ton since then. They claim to typically be >50% cheaper than most law firms they quote against.

DojoMojo: Partnerships and sweepstakes to grow your email list
This one is kind of interesting. It provides a marketplace to help you find B2B partnerships for various types of list-building or marketing exercises such as sweepstakes (hosted by the DojoMojo platform), providing prizes for others’ sweepstakes, content swaps, content buys/sells, etc. Freemium.

Tiny Marketing Wins – Online marketing tutorials for busy SaaS founders
Not a specially negotiated discount, but a discount for a highly relevant resource that I would recommend taking a serious look at, that you can get for $249 instead of $299 until the end of February. I joined as a subscriber of Justin Jackson’s Tiny Marketing Wins soon after he launched it as an annual subscription about a year ago, and I was very happy when he recently changed it to a lifetime access kind of thing (at the same price). His stuff is really good, a great step-by-step program to follow, especially for people new to digital marketing. You can get four free tactics for free to evaluate the quality of his tutorials. Recommended.

Is content marketing dead? Here's some data.
Customer acquisition cost (CAC) through content marketing is approaching that of paid ads, according to this article. Interesting to consider, although likely some form of content marketing is going to remain necessary for SEO and to help your paid campaigns.
